My Reason Behind Statues Installation

My father Professor Shri C. L. Mehrotra was an educationalist particularly for economics and my mother Smt. Amer Devi Mehrotra a devoted housewife and a 'Sanskrit' scholar.

Education has always been paramount in my family, and it was my Mother's dream to impart education from her house at Arya Nagar to the needy and most importantly to the poorest of the poor in our society and this was her legacy to her children.

I have fulfilled her dream by starting this academy, and ensured her vision remains alive by naming this academy Amer Maritime Training Academy in her honour.

My parents always believed that by education one can improve one's position in life. I have instilled this concept in the charter of Amer Maritime Training Academy. It is the aim of this Academy, as per my mother's wishes, to educate and provide vocational training to all who are graduating so that they are driven to work hard on ships and oil rigs and thereby have the means to run their homes and become leaders who improve not only their own families but also those around them.

I also ensured the academy earns the highest accolades and can be a source of pride to my birth city of Kanpur. After starting in 2001, its continued success is highlighted by the award for best training institute in the Middle East & Indian Subcontinent for 2013. It is a real pride for Kanpur that such an institute of international repute exists in this town.

The statues of my Mother and Father, installed on 24th May 2013 and unveiled on 27th November 2013, are there to remind us constantly of my parents' dream and to be a point of reference for the young who come here to make sure they too are motivated by their blessings and ideals. So that they too can get fire in their belly like me and go forward and live and become successful people, capable of helping others also to succeed.

Take the blessings of my parents and use them as I have been doing.

Bless you all.
Ravi K. Mehrotra, CBE
Executive Chairman and Founder Foresight Group of Companies
